My Tour4Youth journey: Lana

Beneficial traineeship at a hotel

Tour4Youth is an international collaboration between actors from Finland, Estonia and Latvia. As a result of this collaborative working style, we are able to provide the program to youths in three different countries, and today we want to introduce you to one of them, Lana from Latvia.

Lana is a 4th year Tourism Organization and Management student in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, and she chose to intern at Dikļi Palace Hotel after she graduated from the Tour4Youth course. Lana got interested of Dikļi Palace Hotel, since she wanted to develop her communication skills with different kinds of people, as well as get to know how it is to work in a hotel. Learning how to adapt to different situations, e.g. emergencies, was also important to Lana.

The course supported managing a job interview

Lana described her internship as exciting, since every day at the hotel was different from the previous. She got to lead tours, serve breakfast to guests, manage social media accounts and create wedding and event proposals for prospective clients.

In her future career Lana hopes to continue to develop and learn different and new skills which would help her in becoming a better employee in her chosen field of work.

When we asked if the Tour4Youth online course helped in her journey, we got the following answer:
“The Tour4Youth online course supported me a lot, I learned new skills which helped me during my internship and even in the job interview for my new job.”
